This work is a reflection and exploration of how I, as a Dutch Chinese adoptee, relate to the Chinese culture whilst being very much estranged from it. Gathered from my entire photo archive, which became both the research and a meditation itself, I’ve composed childhood images into a collage resembling ideas and memories of what is “Chinese” to me, blurred, estranged and partially ungraspable.
