Scoby Experiments

As an exploration of biomaterials and objects as organisms the Living Station has played a significant inspirational role in my practice. With guidance of the station-assistant I’ve learned how to effectively grow my own SCOBY, the main ingredient of Kombucha. I’ve done several experiments on the properties of Scoby by for example; drying scoby, colouring scoby, blending and changing its flexibility by carefully adding and balancing glycerin. In the living station I’ve also experimented with creating Biomaterials made from agar, glycerin and water, shredded orange peels and coffee. And lastly I’ve started growing mycelium to explore its wide variety of usage.
