Liminal Realms is a multimedia installation based on strangerness and liminality of the city. A city can be a strange place, big concrete structures, a show of lights, fast-paced people and an amalgamation of sounds.
During this project, my project-partner Blanka and I have researched Public Sounds and the definition of Liminality and Strangerness. Looking at the many ways a city can be a strange and overwhelming place, we’ve delved into field research and collected video and sound material from a variety of areas. We’ve composed these sources into this multisensorial storytelling mixed-media installation.
Try this audio experience for yourself: Make sure there are no distractions, no other
sounds, put your volume on medium-high and try to submerge into the space.
Be aware that the audio can be experienced as intense and overwhelming.
